'Suicide driven by work overload' is an inadequate allegation, rules Supreme Court

An FIR filed by a junior officer's wife against a senior officer of Maharashtra's Directorate of Education for driving her husband to commit suicide by overloading him with work has been rejected by the Supreme Court. The court ruled against the victim due to an inadequacy of allegations to prove direct abetment and said that the FIR did not qualify for Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
