British were the pioneers of educational boards behind UGC Act

The University Grants Commission will soon be restructured and downsized in terms of a grant provided by the Modi Government by revoking the UGC Act of 1956. It came into being as a part of post-war educational development in 1944 when an advisory board was established by the British after Sir John Sargeant, educational advisor to the Government of India, submitted a report detailing educational measures for Indians.
