Iceland replaces US at Human Rights Council

Following Trump decision to leave the Geneva-based U.N. Human Rights Council last month, UN General Assembly has elected Iceland to replace the US. Western nations nominated Iceland with 172 votes while France who was also in the race got only 1 vote. U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley revealed that The US can't be part of a hypocritical organization which only makes fun of human rights. Iceland’s term will end on Dec. 31, 2019.
