In First, Israel Launches Research Satellite to Study Environment

The Micro-Satellite VENUS, the world’s smallest environmental satellite, designed and built by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Rafael, in collaboration with the French National Center for Space Studies (CNES), was shot into space from the launching pad in French Guiana. The microsatellite, which weighed 265 kg, will send high-resolution photos to track climate change and aid efforts to tackle desertification, erosion, and pollution.
