Malaysia removed ‘fake news’ law, used to suppress free speech

Malaysia is the first country to abolish the law of ‘fake news’ in the world. Previous PM Najib Razak brought the law in March and was criticized. He is currently facing charges for corruption. It was a hit on freedom of speech and discussion. As per the law, if the government finds any news as fake news it will be fined for up to $122,000 and jail for six years. Removing the law is the main election promise.
