Rare blue diamond sold at $6.5 million in Geneva

Elizabeth Farnese the daughter of the Duke of Parma had receives the Farnese Blue diamond as a wedding gift in the year 1715. It then passed down to generations and families across Europe. The rare diamond came from the Golconda mine of India and was auctioned in Geneva for $6.7 million. In just 4 minutes of bidding it reached from $3.5 million to $6.7 million, exceeding the jewellery house Sotheby’s expectation.
